What is organic cotton sateen?
Organic cotton, also referred to as organic cotton, and in our case certified to the GOTS standard.
Sateen refers to the weaving technique. The threads are arranged so that the surface of the fabric has a smooth, subtly lustrous finish. The result? A soft, fluid fabric that rests lightly on your skin.
Our collection is woven to a thread count of 300 TC: fine enough for a luxuriously soft hand feel, sturdy enough to hold its quality beautifully even after dozens of washes.
Good for you
Conventional cotton is one of the most heavily sprayed crops in the world. Pesticides can leave residues in the fibres , and therefore in the bedding you sleep in every single night. Organic cotton does not have that problem. The fibres are cleaner, free from residues, and far gentler on your skin.
Organic cotton is also naturally breathable. The fibres regulate your body temperature, absorbing and releasing moisture as needed. You sleep cooler, without overheating. What you feel is pure cotton, nothing more.
Good for the planet
Conventional cotton farming can require up to 20,000 litres of water per kilogram. With organic cultivation, that figure is significantly lower, healthy soils retain moisture more effectively, reducing the need for artificial irrigation. No synthetic pesticides means less chemical run-off into groundwater and rivers, and healthier conditions for the people who grow and harvest the cotton. The certifications that prove it
You should not have to take our word for it. Our Organic Cotton collection is certified to two of the most rigorous and widely respected standards in the world.
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) covers the entire production process, from field to finished product — verified against both ecological and social criteria, including a ban on harmful chemicals and fair labour conditions throughout the supply chain.
OEKO-TEX Standard 100 tests the finished product against more than a hundred potentially harmful substances, from formaldehyde to heavy metals. Every component of the bedding is tested. If it carries the OEKO-TEX certification, you know: this is safe to wear directly against your skin.
Together, GOTS and OEKO-TEX ensure you are buying a product that is exactly what it claims to be.
What does it feel like?
The fabric feels immediately cool to the touch — the sateen weave gives it a refreshing quality at first contact. After a few minutes, it adjusts to your body temperature. Not heavy. Not clammy. Just right. And every time you wash it? It stays beautiful and only gets softer.
