    Which shade of blue suits your bedroom?

    Blue is a lovely colour if you want a calm look on the bed, but the right shade does make a difference. Light blue or ice blue looks fresh, airy and spacious, especially in bedrooms with lots of daylight. Dark blue, petrol and indigo add more depth and a warmer, more enclosed feel. That works well if you want to give your bed a bit more presence or contrast. Do you have a lot of white, grey, taupe or wood in the room? Then blue is easy to combine with matching pillowcases. If you want more character, warm accents such as gold or ochre work surprisingly well. If you're deciding between several options, a plain blue duvet cover is usually the calmest and most timeless choice.     Choose the size that really fits well

    • 140x220 is a good size for single duvets and often gives a tighter, neater look to the bed.
    • 200x220 works well if you're looking for a wide double size with a bit of extra length and a slight overhang.
    • 240x220 is usually the logical choice for lits-jumeaux or if you like to tuck in generously.
    • Filter by size first: not every shade of blue and every material is available in every size, including organic cotton duvet covers. Then check the product details for length and tuck-in flap as well.

    How to keep blue looking good for longer

    • Always follow the care label on your duvet cover. Wash blue with similar colours where possible and use a mild detergent at the recommended temperature.
    • Don't wash it too hot and don't overload the machine. That reduces the risk of shrinkage, fading and unnecessary wear to the colour and fibres.
    • Let your cover air dry where possible and avoid strong, direct sunlight. If you use a tumble dryer, choose a low setting.
    • Take the duvet cover out of the tumble dryer or off the airer while it's still slightly damp for a smooth result. Only iron if the material calls for it, so the colour and softness stay looking good for longer.
